Interesting in today’s world of talks around being a survivor or survivors of generational trauma or catastrophes in global communities lives like 911 or wars. Lots of us have gone through things as a child and reality seemed the only way to move through life but at times too much for a child, or an adult child. And trying to set boundaries with people and they keep violating them, sometimes out of being a user mentality or a wishful ideal or personal dream or goal and sometimes people violate out of ignorance to what they are doing will upset you. Also even if you have the courage to tell them they might gas light you (either consciously or that’s how they are taught to communicate) and try to turn things into some war or fight for the sake of being on top of the world or on top of their ‘pile of dirt’ of Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pale of water Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after. And yes it’s tough being an empathetic child and adult child and to learn to face life and death situations and also learning who you can get along with and have good boundaries and limits. It is almost like speed limits and drug speed limits and drug or alcohol vibes or the speed of light and lightening storms or night and day. And creativity, and types of intuition, and knowing when to mirror with people or just yourself or the void and when to not. Are we old enough or wise enough to relate? And that you have to trust your own reactions in life and your own understandings.
And imagination and it’s stimulants a wonderful experience until too many nightmares. And a sense of trust or intuition becomes a bit or a lot distorted or displaced. And having courage just to be creative and the type of project to work on, not just the arts but in any problem solving endeavor where you need to find creative solutions or decipher tested and true methods or formulas.
Then some of us get an animal as a pet for some emotional stability and companionship and a creature to nurture and are faced with being a pet owner of say cats and dogs and their true nature vs nature and nurture starts become something to discover how to mitigate and help heal. And when people get into their true nature and groups of people excessively loyal to the abusers and gas lighters or their own vendettas mascaraed as causes. And some acting like their catty or bitchy selves or in a group setting not really good or bad but as a society we are called to be more aware of harm we could be causing with our words, actions and yes sometimes our thoughts and vibes.
And where is the justice system in all of this? What does the doctor say about the latest outbreak or ailment? Or what is he right perspective or the work of many voices or songs, or what is omnipotent?
That might be for another day, or for more wisdom or think tanks or religious scholars or kids in the front row or pew or back of the bus or attempt to tackle in next novella, but back in 92 I wrote a poem about my solution at the time.
Mirror
When I close my eyes there comes a power to see beyond the lies, that have been devoured, devoured by me and you.
But who is to blame?
Why feel the shame?
For we created these myths
Lies
Lies
That are only fears that may bring tears but the truth be found in the mirror.
….
It’s true too that a reflection can only be as good as ones heart, and a need to calm from an inner terror and glad I’ve stopped crying over a particular fear. And hope the terrifying things in life fade away… and waves go back into the ocean.
