The table filled with an assortment of homemade delights, usually the same every year. Beef, salads that will not go bad, like Jane’s potato salad made with a vinaigrette and garlic, quite salty. Or Sarah’s Kale salad with bits of itchy ban soup is indulgent. Small cupcakes for the kids, some staying close to mother, some gone wild tearing up the grass and hanging from apparatus at the park.

The adults minding their families introducing wives and girlfriends to their business partners. Not all the partners sit on the board, most have jobs in the company, pencil pushers as some call it. And yes, there is a pencil sharpener in the office. Jane and Sarah are wives to the partners and help organize this event. They’ve been slow cooking roast beef now for 20 years. They don’t judge the young men’s choice of girls that look like they haven’t been home from the night club. Makeup – too much for a Saturday afternoon or low-cut cleavage and strong perfume.

Not all the men bring women like this but it’s getting more popular as the years progress. The stocks are really climbing back in 1989. Stock and Trade was their company since 1965.
